We are now married and living together. I realize I am going to have to make a plan for food or else we will not have the food we need when we need it. I make a list of the dinners we will have the first week and Ryan picks up the items we don’t have on Monday on the way home. The meal planning went great all week. We had everything we needed and had yummy cooked meals. Friday rolled around and it was time for meatloaf. After having to do some other things we decided we didn’t want to wait an hour for it to cook after I put it together. We started to look to see what else we could cook, as I was not going to get more groceries until the next evening.
We look in the freezer to see if we could cook chicken, but there were only 2 small pieces. That’s a no go. Then, we look at the eggs to see if we can make breakfast. We decide to go with breakfast. We have 5 eggs, turkey sausage and can make waffles. I soon realize that it takes an egg to make the waffles! Now we are down to 4 eggs. We manage to suffice with the breakfast as dinner. That is after I forgot to put the nuts in the waffles as well!
Today the plan was for Ryan to cook the meatloaf as I went to the grocery store. I pull out the recipe to direct Ryan before I go only to realize we used all the eggs the night before and the meatloaf calls for an egg! We went back to the 2 small pieces of chicken with sweet potatoes and some veggies. It all worked out!
Here it is week one of marriage and we are already trying to figure out what we are going to make for dinner because we had no food. My less than a week husband thought he was going to starve! Poor guy. I created a list for the following week of our dinners and set out to the store to be prepared for week two of this newlywed adventure!

I enjoy reading your blogs and lookng at the pictures! This meal plan story remined me of being nineteen, newly married, away from home (Chicago to Ft Hood Tx), The difference was that I could cook up a storm, the challenge was that I could never decide what to cook and my husband did not care what I fixed! He loved everything I cooked! Getting paid once a month and shopping just once a month was also a challenge, So, to meet and overcome my obstacles, I planned 28-31 meals (along with breakast cereals and lunches) and shopped for the groceries once a month. To be creative, I would number my entrees, and I would have “hubby” pick a number for dinner, check ,my list and that is what I would prepare for the day! If we did not like it, I threw out the recipe, if we liked it a lot, I would have it on the month plan with more than one number! Good luck, Sweetie, I know that you can overcome any obstacles, especially with LOVE!
