We hear and read a lot of different tips out there that promise to aid us in becoming a better wife. What I am wondering is have you ever thought about how journaling could indeed do just that? I truly believe that when we focus our energy on something for a period of time and acknowledge our hustle and struggles we can grow exponentially in that area!
Last month I met Carol Round, the author of Journaling with Jesus. As I thumbed through the book and the companion workbook I just knew it was a resource that I needed to share with you all! And here we are! (Keep reading to find out how to get your free copy!)
I started reading the book mid March and started the 40 day challenge of journaling on Monday, March 24th which puts me wrapping it up in just about a week. The book was an easy read that encouraged me to journal. If you have ever wondered the benefits of journaling this book would for sure let you know what they are! I enjoyed reading the accounts from those who have been jouraling for years and see how it has changed their lives.
I have been journaling on and off since I was 13 years old. I went through phases where it was just recounting the events of that day. There were other times that I journaled about specific goals I was working on. There was even a 90 day period where I specifically focused on the joys that teaching brought me each day. However, this concept of journaling with Jesus was a new one to me. The workbook gives scripture, a thought from Carol, a focus topic for your journaling and a “faith step.” For me it was a good set up because it was short and to the point, but allowed me to get focused in one area. Often times my prayers can be so sporadic trying to remember everything that I want to pray for. In this layout it was easy to stay focused in one area!
Journal topics have ranged from relying totally on God to letting go on doubt and anxiety. I feel that this process has allowed my walk with God to grow closer, but also that I have gained confidence in my ability to be a good wife. I will have to admit I have not completed each day in the journal. Just like anything else when creating new habits it does take time. However, I have enjoyed the process and see how journaling can affect all areas of life!
With Carol’s generosity we are giving away Journaling with Jesus and The 40 Day Challenge companion workbook! To enter all you need to do is: Leave a comment below telling if you currently journal and then head over to Journaling with Jesus Facebook page and leave a comment. As easy as that!
