3 Apps That Will Improve Your Marriage

I have a confession to make. Ryan and I just got smart phones about three weeks ago. Up until then we still had old school flip phones. They called. They texted. They told us what time it was. That was it. We finally had enough of the flip phones. We wanted to be able to take pictures on the go and have the ability to check in on our social media when we traveled. So we took the plunge and got iPhones. But now we are onto looking for apps that will improve your marriage.

It is a whole new world now with smart phones! I never knew a phone had the ability to do so many things! Of course before we even had smart phones we would hear people say, “There’s an app for that.” With a iPhone now in hand I wanted to know what were some of the apps people were loving. I asked our community of women what their favorite apps where that helped them with or improved there marriage. After taking a look at the ones that were recommended I wanted to share three of them with you that I have been using.

3 best marriage apps that will improve your relationship. Try one of these apps for marriage today.

3 apps that will improve your marriage

1. Dare2Share- Looking for a way to connect on a deeper level? This app will help you do just that. You sit down somewhere together with your app to start. Each session has several cards the app flips through. There are cards that ask you to share things about yourself and/or your relationship. Then there are dares to go along with that same conversation. These dares might take a little more guts to be honest and do them, but they are not like the middle school dares you remember. These dares encourage you to dig deeper into your relationship to really discover more about each other. This app is wonderful for practicing effective communication.

2.Cozi– This is a family planning organizer. It gives you the ability for your whole family to access the same app. I liked how the family calendar enabled you to color code each event so everyone is clear on who needed to attend. Another great feature I liked was the grocery list. Ryan will typically text me something we need. If I don’t add it to the list right away I might forget about it. Using this list makes the whole process easier. On the free version there is also a shared to do list and journal. This app for sure helps keep couples on the same page!

3.Avocado- (Sadly, this app has been discontinued.) This app is a personal messaging system between you and one other person. Again, both of you use the same account to connect. You can send regular text messages with words of affirmations, but it goes beyond that. You can send sketches, hugs, kisses, your mood and photos. It is a fun way to interact throughout the day other than normal texts. It gives a bit of variety that allows your man to know you are thinking of him. This free version also has five lists available and a calendar. Although, I personally like Cozi better for the list and calendar aspect.

I have to say I was a bit skeptical about how we would allow smart devices to enter our lives. Would they take over our already limited quality time? Or would we commit to using them in a way that benefited our marriage. I feel like so far Ryan and I have done a good job at keeping the balance appropriate. Using fun apps like these above can actually help us improve our marriage instead of hindering it.

What are other apps you use to help or improve your marriage?

Until Next Time- Truly Love,

Cassie

There are a ton of cool apps on the phones that can be used for good! We just got smart phones less than year ago and I didn’t realize how many apps could actually improve my marriage!

These are great, especially the 3rd one. Thanks for sharing! Do you find yourself using Avocado more than normal texting?

Hi Nicole, I actually am using Avocado with my teen sister. We use the drawing feature and special emoticons. I like the app a lot. I am using another app that is similar to Avocado called Couple with Ryan. They are both similar, although I think I like Avocado more. For Ryan and I we like the album feature in the app and the joined list creation.

For the last app ‘dare2share’, can you tell me who makes so that I know I’m downloading the right thing?

It is called Dare2Share English by Hermann Kuschke. It is a red image with a crown. Enjoy!

        Hi guys

Just came across this. The correct app is Dare2Share English. On the App Store, it says my name as the developer. On the Google Play Store, it says SPontrac as the developer. Some technical reasons behind it all, but as long as you get Dare2Share English with the white crown on the red background, you got the right one!

        Enjoy!

        Regards,

        Hermann

I use a lot of inspirational and Christian websites that help strengthen your marriage and although there are no apps I send the emails with prayers and actual scriptures from the bible to my husband to be overseas as he is in a war zone and lives all of the prayers, bible scriptures and inspirational quotes from the UnveiledWife.com.

My hubby and I use the Youversion Bible app for our Devotions. It is from livechurch.tv But you can go to http://www.youversionbible.com to get it in the browser of your Desktop , too. I am not sure what it is called in the Apple store as I own a Android.

The Bible App is pretty great. My husband and I share what devotions we are reading and even work through the same “plans” together so we can share about what we’re reading at the end of the day.

Thank you for sharing, Michele! That is a great idea! Personally, I like physical books in general so my devo is sitting on the kitchen table. But I could probably switch over to digital if I knew Hubby and I could interact and talk more about our devotionals. Thank you for sparking the idea!

My wife and I use Between instead of Avocado. Its a very similar app, it lets you share photos, messages, and has a calendar feature as well. It lets you keep a password on the app so you kids cant get into it and read the spicy texts that we send each other.

If you both have iPhones, you should be able to send doodles, emotions and emojis, hugs, photos, voice memos and all that simply using the regular messaging app, not needing to use Avocado. I also have the option to send my pulse or heart beat to my husband haha. We have Apple watches.

Isn’t technology just crazy, Adria! Honestly, we are not that into technology. With each new iPhone update we complain about the new changes that get in our way because we don’t use them. When the rest of the world love them. We get to embrace the new stuff more to be able to enjoy little things like that that you mentioned.

      Dear All

I am the developer of the Dare2Share app. We have been experiencing technical difficulties with the app store and I am currently trying to sort it out. That is why you cannot find us on the store. Apologies for the inconvenience, but it should be available again very soon.

      Regards,

Hi Talia- Both apps are similar in that they let you do cutsie little things. Some just have different features. But now with so many cool features on our smart phones it’s almost as if we may not even need an extra app!
