If you read how we met you know that we met at the Tulsa Run in 2010. After Ryan proposed we decided it would be awesome not only to get married on the day we met, but to run the race then get married later that afternoon! We decided to have a running theme wedding as well. October 29th, 2011 we woke up to race and then get married! Our photographers, Ammann Photography, came out to the race to capture the start of our special day. After Ryan finished the race he ran back to me with a veil and bow tie. We crossed the finish line at 1 hour and 12 minutes holding hands as bride and groom!
We left the race going our own ways to meet up a few hours later for the wedding. My hairdresser was at my apartment waiting on me. She had already completed my sisters and Maid of Honors hair. The race started at 9. I was to finish between 10:10 and 10:15. Be home and showered by 11 to start hair. Walking out of the apartment by 12:10 to be at the church by 12:30 to meet Ryan for my revealing at 1. Then pictures at 1:30. Wedding at 3 and then the reception. And it all happened exactly like that! Right on time!
Once at the church I started getting my dress on and flashes started clicking. So many pictures to capture all the memories. Then, it was time for the revealing. I am standing outside the sanctuary doors. I take a deep breath, tell myself not to cry because I will get all splotchy and start to walk in. Ryan’s back is to me as I walk in. I walk down the aisle and the only noise I hear is the swoosh swoosh of my dress. I stop once I get close to Ryan and he turns around. He is so handsome in his tux! We hug and kiss and look each other up and down. What a wonderful moment it was!
We took lots of family pictures and soon were on our way to start the ceremony. I was watching in a small window as things were taking place. I got teary eyed as the video played. I got choked up when Ryan walked his mom down the aisle. A tear streamed down as I saw our mothers hug each other after the unity candle. Then, it was time. It was time for me to walk in. I had an overwhelming feeling like “Oh this is really happening.” I took a deep breath and told myself no crying. I walked down the aisle to my soon to be husband where both of my dad’s gave me away.
Ryan and I made the ceremony our own: mile markers as aisle decorations, showing that the ring was going on the correct hand this time unlike the engagement, Ryan swallowing “mouthwash”, us putting on our running shoes and exiting to the Rocky theme song. It all felt so surreal!
Then off to the reception after a few more post wedding pictures. We walked in under a finish line banner. We grabbed a bit to eat: pizza, chicken salad, fruit, cheese and crackers, salsa & guac and almonds & cranberries! It was all the things we eat around race time. It was time to cut the cake and toast. We really had no idea what we were doing as this obviously was our first time. We were getting guidance from the guests and our photographers! We toasted with chocolate milk which was delicious! During the bouquet toss some of my friends got intense and scratched each other! While Ryan was taking the garter off of me he paused like the photographer said to do. People started giggling wanting to know what was taking him so long.
After eating and making our rounds it was time for us to make our grand exit! Friends, colleagues and family gave us a farewell with bubbles galore. We set off into the world as Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Celestain!
